Bahria University had the privilege of hosting a highly productive and forward-looking meeting with Tahir Imran Khan, Founder President of The Adventure Club Pakistan, at the University Head Office on Monday, 6 April 2026.
The meeting was convened with the primary objective of exploring collaborative avenues for the development and launch of specialized short courses in the field of mountaineering and adventure tourism. These proposed programs aim to equip participants with essential technical competencies, safety protocols, and leadership skills, while also fostering a culture of experiential and outdoor learning among students and professionals.
During the discussion, Mr. Tahir Imran Khan emphasized the pressing need to address the existing gap in professional qualifications within Pakistan’s mountaineering and adventure tourism sector. He highlighted that, despite the country’s immense natural potential and global recognition for its mountainous terrain, there remains a lack of structured training pathways and internationally aligned certification programs. This gap presents both a challenge and an opportunity for academic institutions to play a transformative role in developing a skilled, certified, and globally competitive workforce.
The dialogue also explored potential program frameworks, including certification standards, industry linkages, safety and risk management modules, and opportunities for field-based training in collaboration with experienced practitioners. Both sides expressed keen interest in designing programs that not only meet local industry needs but also align with international best practices in outdoor leadership and adventure education.
The meeting was attended by senior representatives from Bahria University, including Faisal Naeem Khan, Director, Bahria University Hashoo School of Hospitality Management (HSHM); Zulfiqar Ahmed Janjua, Director, Leadership and Professional Development Center (LPDC); Muhammad Qasim, Program Manager, HSHM; and Atif Shahzad, Deputy Director, LPDC.
The discussion concluded on a strong note of mutual commitment to developing innovative, skill-oriented academic offerings that respond to emerging trends in experiential education, outdoor leadership, and sustainable tourism. This potential collaboration reflects Bahria University’s strategic vision to diversify its professional education portfolio and contribute meaningfully to niche and high-growth sectors.
